10 ways to deburr die casting parts

In the die-casting production process, burrs are inevitable due to factors such as pressure impact and insufficient clamping force. Although the glitch is small, it directly affects the quality of the product. Ningbo Hongxin summarized some deburring methods and shared them with you.
        1. Manual deburring

         The method generally adopted by enterprises adopts files, sandpaper, grinding heads, etc. as auxiliary tools.

        Brief comment: The labor cost is higher, the efficiency is not as good as the machine, and the complex cross hole is difficult to remove. Low technical requirements, environmental protection, suitable for products with small burrs and simple product structure.

        2. Use a die to remove burrs

        Deburring is carried out by using a punching die and a punching machine.
        
        Comment: A certain amount of punching die (coarse die + fine punching die) production cost is required, and if necessary, a shaping die is required. Suitable for products with simple parting surfaces.

        3. Grinding and deburring

        Including vibration, sand blasting, roller, magnetic force, etc., companies currently use more.
        
        Comment: There is a problem that the removal is not very clean, and it may require subsequent manual or other methods to deal with residual burrs. Suitable for small products in larger batches.

        4. Frozen deburring

         The ultra-low temperature of liquid nitrogen quickly embrittles the burr, and the frozen particles ejected at high speed hit the burr of the product.
    
         Brief comment: The price of the equipment is about RMB 200,000 to RMB 300,000; suitable for products with small burr wall thickness and small products.

        5. Hot burst deburring

        Also called thermal energy deburring, explosion deburring. Hydrogen and oxygen are mixed in a closed working room for processing workpieces, instantaneously ignite and burn and undergo a violent thermochemical reaction with burrs on the surface of the workpiece in a very short time, and use the energy generated by explosion to dissolve the burrs.

Brief comment: The equipment is expensive (million RMB), requires high operation technology, and has the risk of side effects (rust, deformation); it is mainly used in some high-precision parts, such as automotive and aerospace precision parts.

        6. Deburring of engraving machine

        Brief comment: The equipment is not very expensive (tens of thousands of RMB), suitable for simple space structure, and the required deburring position is simple and regular.

7. Chemical deburring

 Using the principle of electrochemical reaction, the parts made of metal materials can be deburred automatically and selectively.

Brief comment: Suitable for internal burrs that are difficult to remove, after heat treatment and finished parts (fine burrs).

8. Electrolytic deburring

       Referred to as ECD, an electrolytic machining method that uses electrolysis to remove burrs from metal parts.

Brief comment: The electrolyte is somewhat corrosive, parts will be damaged near the burr, the surface will lose luster, and even affect the dimensional accuracy. The workpiece needs cleaning and anti-rust treatment after deburring. It is suitable for removing burrs in hidden parts, cross holes or parts with complex shapes. The efficiency is high, and the deburring time generally only takes a few seconds to tens of seconds. Suitable for deburring gears, connecting rods, valve bodies and sharp corners.

        9. Deburring with high-pressure water jet

        The instantaneous impact of high-pressure water is used to remove burrs and flash generated after processing, while achieving the purpose of cleaning. After many tests and tests, we finally found a suitable pressure of 30MPa-50MPa. If the pressure is insufficient, the effect of deburring cannot be achieved. If the pressure is too high, the burr can be removed, but there is a risk of damage to the workpiece.

Comment: The equipment is expensive, and it is currently only used in the heart of cars and hydraulic control systems of construction machinery.

10. Ultrasonic deburring

       When the ultrasonic energy generated by the ultrasonic wave acts on the liquid in the sparse state of the liquid, it will tear into small cavities (that is, the inside is vacuum), and these cavities will generate an instantaneous pressure of up to several hundred atmospheric pressures when they break , Ultrasonic waves use hundreds of atmospheric pressures at the same time to instantly remove the burrs attached to the components.

Comment: Only for some microscopic glitches (microscopic observation).
